What is root canal retreatment?

Root canal retreatment is a procedure performed when a tooth that previously had a root canal becomes painful, reinfected, or fails to heal properly. Assessment and imaging ⏤ We use digital x-rays and advanced diagnostics to assess the issue and determine if retreatment is needed.
Removal of old materials ⏤ The filling from the original root canal is carefully removed to access the inner canals.
Cleaning and disinfection ⏤ We thoroughly clean the tooth’s canals, eliminating any bacteria, infection, or debris.
Refill and seal ⏤ The canals are filled again with new biocompatible material and sealed to prevent reinfection.
Final restoration ⏤ In most cases, a new crown is placed to restore function and protect the tooth long-term.
